Salt Clay Mouse

What You Need:

Salt clay

Old metal tablespoon

Cookie sheet

Black, red, and white tempera paint

Paper plate, for mixing colours

Thin paintbrush

What You Do:
  1. Press a lump of clay into the spoon for a mouse body. Gently pull the clay along the spoon's handle for a tail.

  2. Roll tiny balls of clay for eyes, nose, and ears; press them into the rounded mouse body.

  3. Place the mouse- still in the spoon- on a cookie sheet. Ask a grown up to bake the clay until hardened in oven, or allow to air-dry. Then, carefully slide the clay mouse off the spoon.

  4. Mix some black and white paint to paint the mouse gray; mix red and white paint for a pink nose. Add black details for the eyes and ears.
